Which pump to use with Osmolator from the basement?

I have my ATO barrel in the basement, and I'm using the switched socket outlet to run the pump in there. I'm using a Mag 3 pump, reduced down to 1/4" tubing that is run in the walls and ceiling to get to the tank, so there is about 10' of head necessary to get it to my sump, along with about 20 foot horizontal run. The Mag 3 is working, but I've had 2 fail quite quickly. I'm not really sure why.

Danner assures me that it's not the fact that it goes on and off all the time. I'm wondering if it has to do with it being restricted down to 1/4" tubing.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a better pump for this application? Low volume high head would be the best, in my way of thinking.

I would look at one of the high head pressure small Iwakis, you would need a bulkhead and external plumbing to connect it to the reservoir. They are expensive but they will last indefinitely with care and you might also check industrial surplus as Iwakis are used in many bottling applications. I think that is too much head pressure and resistance for a small submersible type pump.

Their is also the WMD series, much cheaper, but the MD are the best. MD is a Japanese motor, WMD is a US motor. MD is always quieter, the only draw back is they have no plug, you have to add the plug yourself which is not a bad option as you could wire on a Schuko type plug and eliminate the plug adapter on the switched outlet. If you click the link on the page for the manufacturer you can get very detailed specs on every model.

I'm already using an MD 40 RLXT pump for a mixing station and waterchange pump. Do you think I could incorporate it into this or do you think it's just too powerful? If it's too much, I could probably replace it with the 20, I'm sure that's good enough for the other stuff I'm doing.

Here's a picture of my setup.
