Is this the best Ranco product to control a 1/25 HP , 0.71A Taco pump for temperature control?

RANCO ETC-111000-000 SINGLE STAGE COMMERCIAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL THERMOSTAT

Yes, that is the right model. They are easy to wire--manual is straightforward and there are several youtube videos as well.

Mines in the box, need another to hook it up the way I want, but have the pump and the Pex so it will happen as soon as my big sump is done and I have a place to put the coil.

Just be sure to set up a heat exchange and closed loops...legionnaires disease is not something to mess with.

I agree about nasty things growing in stagnant water. I came up with a simple way to flush the lines, but can't figure out a way to keep a water tank from sucking all the heat out the aquarium when the water heater fails. Around here the water in the winter is really cold. Then I was going to do a heat exchanger by stripping the sheet metal and insulation from the hot water tank and wrapping it with 150' of copper. Until I priced the copper, that is. And there's still the problem when the water heater fails.

So, I'm leaning towards a dedicated tankless water heater on a closed loop.

You going with gas heat?

Yes I am.

I will be monitoring the loop temp with a Ranco also for this very reason. The electric emergency backup would easily be overcome by a 50 degree loop if the washing machine and dishwasher are both running after a long hot shower! As for the stagnant water thing I will admit I am a skeptic, but will have a valve to flush my system if needed. Since my whole system is in an unfinished basement in northwest Ohio, I expect my loop to only not run in July and August on a normal year, my heaters are currently running down there to maintain 76 degrees.
