Which Rubbermaid for a temporary sump?

I am new to this whole rubbermaid sump thing...i need to buy one to be used temporarily that can fit under a 72"x24" stand and can be reliable...any recommendations?

Sam has a very nice EuroFil 125 for sale.
36 x 13 x 16 think?? Check it out.
Maybe $150.00 or less.

Most rubbermaid and similar tubs can't really hold that much water or else they'll bow badly. I was looking at a black hard plastic ~30 gallon tub at Lowes recently. It's really sturdy and I think only costs like $20 or so. You can find it next to all the rubbermaid tubs. Good luck.

The rubbermaid stock tanks seem to be the popular sump choices. They come in 50, 70, 100 and 300 gallon capacities, but the smallest one is 28" high, 23.5" wide and 48" long. I don't think that would fit under your tank easily.

I have seen some of the smaller storage bins used (and used them temporarily myself) that are available at Depot or even Big Lots. The issue with these is the plastic does not hold its shape and the sides bow out when filled with water. That said, I have never had one fail on me.

When I was moving my tank I doubled up some 40gal bins but they still bowed. Perhaps add a frame to keep it from bowing?

Fair enough! I would still double up the containers *just in case*, particularily when they are only $10 to $15 each.

Oh, and if they do break . . . um, don't hurt me . . . ;)

In that case, get a 35gal Brute trash can. I filled one of those to the top with sand/rock and pulled it around my flat by the handles.

Come on . . . don't you want a trash can hanging out next to your fish tank with tubes coming out of it? They are so stylish these days! :p

I have used a couple of rubbermaid totes plumbed together as a "sump" for about 7 years. There was a fair amount of bowing but it worked for me during that time period.

if you can find them...use the roughneck ones. the only problem is the texture on the bottom of the tub traps a bunch of stuff but then that can go either way for you. i used glaudds setup for inspiration. when i had the temp setup i was telling you about i was using a $5 rubbermaid 17 gal from home depot.

here we go again, Gabriel is gonna make me spend MORE money and make MORE changes to the tank plan - thanks man :)

i may get Randy to build me a sump at a later point - but for now i gotta get something temporary going.
