Which species of clowns...

Which species of clowns have a lyretail?

I know of at least one species, but what are the others?

I ask because the lfs by me has one -- deep orange, two bars outlined in black, with a long lyretail.

He was definitely in the clarkii complex. And he was in a S. haddoni anemone.

I think I'm going to try to get a picture tomorrow. Any guesses?

I have a hard time making these kinds of decisions! :)

It's for the tank in my classroom, which has been up, cycling and fishless, since Aug 16. While my students love watching the snails and crabs, they've been waiting for a fish.

They are not the smallest of clown and seem to swim a bit. Make sure you have the space and a cover for the tank.

Cheers.

Also keep in mind that CB ones are readily available, so don't feel like you NEED to buy it because you won't find one again.

Size is definitely a consideration.

Wow, according to the above link, they get up to 14cm...almost 6 inches. I might have to pass :(

Here's a few pics I got at the LFS:

I think I may go with the pink skunks instead. :(

And I'll be getting them on Friday (a meeting day, so I can actually leave, get the fish, and acclimate them before the weekend).

They have to live in a 10 gallon, at least till the end of the school year. After that, I think my brother will inherit them for his upcoming 55 gallon.

The fish pictured was actually brought in by an employee -- he had her in a 12 gallon and said she was getting too big for the tank. She had been living without an anemone, but as soon as she was put in the tank at the LFS, she took right to the one pictured. I don't think I have the heart to rip her out of it!

Very sad because she is a very friendly and very healthy fish. If only I had a bigger tank...
