Which species, were to place?

Which species is this?
Where should I place it. I've had it for a few months but it never attached to anything.... keeps falling over all the time.

looks like a derasa and I put mine about 12 inches below my 250 watt HQI MH

Do the prefer to be placed in sand, rubble or rock?

I put mine always on the sand however I am sure some people put them on rocks, you might try and put it in the sand with a flat rock next to it in the sand and see which it takes
