I am relatively new to the area and there seems to be a few pretty nice stores, which do you guys prefer and why?

In case you haven't found them all yet, there are three saltwater stores in Albuquerque:

Emperor's Ocean
2120 Juan Tabo Blvd Ne
Albuquerque, NM 87112
(505) 299-0427

Southwest Reef Company
2400 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107
505-884-0901
Run by Rob, who ran the old Coral Island

Coral Island
2205 Candelaria Rd NE # C, Albuquerque, NM 87107
(505) 830-9188

I would pretty much stick to those three stores in town. If you have some reef experience, you can get a feel for who knows what at what store pretty quickly. Everyone is pretty nice.

Their employees do read this forum, so I don't know if you'll get any real dirt here...

Both southwest reef and coral island are nice stores. They have different stuff to offer and opinions may vary about some things between the two. They both have nice live stock and both are willing to help with just about anything.

yeah I have been frequenting coral island and southwest reef mostly although emporers ocean does have some really nice corals at times, I was just asking to see if there were any reasons to avoid or any type of livestock to avoid from them, but for the mot part they all seem to be very good and will most likely serve as my main means for building my reef
