The controller gives you more flexability and the random flow that helps keep detritus from accumulating, it is not just for SPS. I would need more info about the corals you keep and the type of sand bed.
the sand is not going tbe the very fine ones. just going to be covered in the front of the tank. and about 2-3in its going to be basic zoos green star polyps. toadstool clove polyps, blastos nothing fancy.
I would recommend a 6000 since you can control the speed and upgrade it later to a 6100. Start with just the pump and choose a controller after deciding whether or not you feel you need a second pump.
Other options include a 6060 but the speed cannot be controlled and it cannot be used on a wavemaker, while I doubt it will be too much on a diagonal it is difficult to say for sure.
You could also wait for the 6055 and use 2 of them.
