While I wait for my new tank to cycle, can I keep new corals in a Biocube 29?

I'm finishing up my new build. 40b/20l with Blackbox lights and all the regular good stuff. It's not going to be cycled by Black Friday, but I'm probably going to be doing some coral purchases then. I'm mostly a zoa/LPS guy, but I'll be getting some easier to grow SPS.

I currently have a Biocube 29, the old one with the compact power bulbs. It houses a hammer, frogspawn and green star polyp, as well as some mushrooms. I had a montipora growing until I got negligent when my son was born. Obviously this isn't ideal, but it's a short term holding tank until the cycle is complete. Then it's relegated to quarantine. It's healthy, stable and works, it just has crap for lights. It has 2 clowns, cleaner shrimp, and clean up crew if that matters.

If I plan to get the new tank wet this weekend, and we assume the worst case of a 12 week cycle, can I hold corals over, or is it a death sentence? I plan on using new rock and seeding it with the best of my current rock. That should assist in the time to cycle, but I'm just trying to make sure I make reasonable plans.

I do not see why it would not work as long as you kept things that sting from not touching and if you can keep frogspawn and a hammer in there with the lights it should be okay for a little bit I think

(and if I am wrong you can bet other RC members will correct me)

Yeah, the fact that I keep LPS suggests that it will work. I'm just asking because if I don't, well I could make a huge mistake.

I'm not planning on anything crazy. Probably a couple Euphyllia of different varieties, a couple monti frags and a bunch of zoa frags. For the sps, I might wait, as I really don't feel like wasting money.
