Hello,

Is there such thing as a white anemone.
I've looked in line and it brings up malu as a prime candidate

I thought there was not such thing and white =bleached?

I don't think there should be a healthy pure-white anemone (speaking about normal anemones we can purchase). They look white because stress during shipment/poor tank condition got them bleached. Under good conditions, they should turn dark and brown with shades of different colors.

It's not just shipping stress that causes host anemones to bleach. Unfortunately there are still some collectors and exporters who intentionally bleach anemones. Sometimes just to turn them white, but often also as a pretreatment for dying them with all kinds of crazy colors.

But in the end it's all the same, a white (host) anemone is not really healthy.

That said, there are other, non-photosynthetic anemones that come in white, red, and many other colors that are totally healthy that way.
