white blotches on bottom of clownfish?

I have had a maroon clown in my tank for over a month now and I added a flower pot a couple weeks ago. The maroon took a liking to the flower pot and tried hosting in it but whenever it does, the flower pot closes up. It has been doing this since we added the flower pot to the tank. Now I am noticing white pathces on the underside of the clown fish. Could this possibly be from the flower pot? The white marks are localized only to the area that it tries to hide in the flower pot before it closes up. I don't have any pictures at the moment. Any idea of what could have caused that? Thanks for any help.

Sounds to me like a side effect from being stung by the flower pot....But with out pics its tough to say...
