White dots? Help wanted!

Ever since I got my first clean up crew I have had these white dots all over my tank (see picture below) and never knew what they were. I posted on nano-reef.com and no one could figure it out, except that they were not snail eggs. Since they couldnt figure it out I hope someone experienced here can.

Also the other morning I woke up to a tank filled with little white dots (smaller then picture, like the size of a grain of sand) and they all appear to be moving. I'm not sure if there is a connection but litterally there are thousands in my tank. They are so small I can't even get a picture of them but could these be harmful? I should be getting my macro lens in to take some pictures. I hope someone could figure at least one of these problems out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

From the photo, they look to me like baby limpets. Do they have a flattened cone sort of shape to them?

This is a "common limpet" from the internet:

I've had assorted limpets in my tank before and they never seemed to hurt anything.

They don't move or anything? The picture I put up of the white dots are like hard specs. The second thing I was talking about are extremely tiny and they move and are living. I assume the first larger white dots are eggs of some sort. Sorry to sound confusing. Thanks

I think you just nailed my problem. I picked up a few of these from a lfs not to long ago. Also just when I was taking this picture I found a few (baby) snails roaming the sand bed! along with a few others that were to small to photograph. Heres a picture of the baby snail,

Thanks

So I guess the bigger white spots are baby snails and some have hatched! Now for the smaller white spots? They are as big as a grain of sand and almost look like sand but they are all over the glass, and if you look closely they move around. These I would like to find out more about also. I just got an outbreak a few days ago and ever since that has been top priority. Any help would be greatly appreciated on the smaller creatures. Thanks to all that have helped find out my first problem! It really had me nervous for a little. Thanks again

I was thinking that but they are REALLY small. I thought pods are a little bigger. I will be getting a macro lens in a few days and will post the little buggers up here when I do. So now we will have to play the waiting game.. lol

Thanks for all of your help though. I'm going to keep searching around. Somone has to have had the same dilema as me. Thanks again

dude i have some too, i didnt have any clue what they were i have like 6 or 7 on my back glass. Are you guys saying i should get rid of them (scrape em off and throw away?) I dont want them to bore thru my glass! Are they the first stage and then hatch into those snails? I have a keyhole limpet in my tank but he just cruises around munching algae.

I don't have the white dots, only the baby snails, and funny enough I never see any adolescent snails, I suppose they get eaten, however my snail population has never dwindled to less that what I initially put in as clean-up.

LOL! Ryan they are from the snails I gave you. The are Nerite snails eggs and I collected them from the Keys. I have like 10000000000000000000000000000000000000 of them in my refugium. I'm about to scrape them off.

lol that would explain it, fortunatly i dont have THAT many eric but they will be gone in the morning. I picked up a very nice hawkfish today at the LFS he is so docile and is eating frozen foods well. He's the biggest fish in my tank now around 3 inches maybe a bit smaller.. Lets my cleaner shrimp give him dentistry! I've never had any of my fish sit still for him before but this guy really likes it.
Ryan
Oh theres a couple pics of him in the gallery.

Yeah I like mine a lot as well, but its always pearching on my zoos and makes them close! but a lot better then my cleaner shrimp.

its amazing to see the cleaner actually do its job... CLEAN! It sucks at the same time, so far I think he caused 6 fish related deaths. Chased 3 fire fishes around the tank and then loves to check out my yellow watchman gobies so i guess they both died because of him and now my green clown goby is missing. :( :( :( :( :( :(

Mine is getting along with everyone including the neon goby, engineer goby, and maroon clown, he isnt a longnose like yours but same colors pretty much, do you know what variety it is?
