white dots on glass

What are the white dots with empty centers that grow on the glass of my tank? It also grows on the rocks and even my bumble bee snails. Is this normal or a bad thing? If necassary I'll get some pics later when I get home from work.

I agree, mine have mostly disappeared over the years, I still get them in my goby/pistol tank as there is nothing to eat them.

i have them all over in my sump and i used to have them in my seahorse tank

nothing eats them that i know of

Eats them? The only thing I've seen able to rid them is a razorblade.
I have lots of them too.
