Hi i have 2 Ocellaris Clownfish one of them has this white cotton fuzzy stuff on him could some one tell me what it is and what meds i need to treat it i also have a power brown tank that i think is getting ich he has 2 white dots that look like salt on next to his gills if i put them in a QT how should i treat them thx

Keep them in a quarantine tank for 4 wks with low salinity around 1.010 with a lot of aeration and everyday give them a dip in a gallon container with a formalin medicine as long as the can take it also keep the gallon container with aeration. Do this for 4 weeks and they should be fine, also feed everyday and check the qt. tank parameters to make sure they’re within range. After four wks drip acclimate to main tank and put them back in

thx for the post but i dont think my clown is going to make it he is staying at the bottom of the tank and he now has white like film all over him and hes breathing really fast should i put the other clown in the QT to and leave the main tank empty for a month for the ich to go away also what is formalin medicine and can i get it at my lfs thx

u should leave ur tank empty, as far as the formalin ur store should have it just ask for it..... the same thing happen to my first clown dont worry bout it. it could be brooklynella (clown fish desease) u cant really help it. .... do some google researching
A white film covering your clownfish is a classic symptom of brooklynella aka clownfish disease ... std treatment is a formalin bath.

My clown had brooks, freshwater dip with formalin cleared it right up,he is eating great but stills stay close to the top.

Fill a zip lock bag with fresh water. If you use tap water put conditioner in It(better off using uncloranated but I used tap). Let bag sit in your tank for 30 minutes so tempatures match. Put your fish in to the zip lock bag for 3 minutes and then relese him back into your tank. The fish will probably float to the top of the bag on its side. I know it looks like it's dying but it's normal. Repeat this process everyday in till the white film is gone. I've cured 2 clowns with this method. Hope it helps.
I am not sure what you are treating this way, but a fresh water dip does not solve very many problems. And as mentioned, this post is really old.
