Check this fish out! A white longirostris at abyss aquatics in the UK.

I dont know if it will maintain color, but very interesting specimen nonetheless.

That is SUPER cool. It would be amazing if it maintained that coloration, but the yellow in the fins makes make doubtful already...

That may just be a changing phase to a male...........they are all black. Although you wouldn't think it would change to a white first.

I am pretty sure that the "brown/black" longnose butterflies that you are referring to are simply a color morph of the same species. The black coloration does not have anything to do with a fish being male...

I stand corrected on the blacks being male..............I've seen pictures of pairs that had a black & yellow together & may have read the black was a male, not necessarily that all blacks are males.

I think the below video fits well in this thread! Black longirostris at 0:27!

Likewise to both. Been looking for a while too. I did not know that this coloration was even a possibility. ;)

I can't believe they are not available around you guys, I see them all the time near me. One Lfs just got in 6 of them. And to be clear I'm talking about the regular coloration, not the black morph.

Yea I'm positive, they have both there at the shop. I have also seen one shop selling them as regular long nose. It is easier to tell them apart when you see them side by side.

OK, that's great!
Actually it's really easy to tell them apart if you have ever seen them both...

I used to have the longirostris for a while. Amazing fish that was killed by a monster mantis that had made it's way in to my tank with some new LR :headwalls:

The really interesting thing to me is the presence of dots on the body like the ones that are ordinarily just on the chest. It makes me think this may not just be a temporary thing.
