I had a red mushroom that was on the back of a rock and turned white, almost translucent. Once the rock was moved and got more light it got its color back. So my guess is that your mushroom would start to color up if it got more light. Mine did take months to get its color back.
I have a couple in my tank as well that are like that! one was in a group with a bunch of pink ones but it has no color. It is right out in the open getting pleanty of light. but it sure is white. not sure what causes it. I had one that I think was red or is at least in a group with some red ones that is similarly colored.
Side point, when my lavender mushroom which is really green with lavender frills on it gets agrivated it gives off a bright green slimey yresidue and where the green came off it is now clear!
When I first started reefing I bought a piece of tonga that had a bunch of "white" ricordea on it. I was pretty psyched (I really liked them white) and posted some pics of them on a different website........and then got laughed at.
