White particals

Ever since I had gotten my second half, I seem to always have little white particals floating in the tank. If I turn off my powerheads, the particals just seem to levitate in the tank. Is there a way to keep the particals out of the tank, or is this somthing that I just have to deal with because of what the rocks are made of or being that the rocks are so full of life?

The clams (and other bi-valves?) are great at expelling little fluffy clumps of waste. It usually doesn't float much till I dust it off the rocks with a turkey baster. To help expedite its removal, I'll temporarily slip a sheet of open cell foam material in the bubble trap part of my sump. I don't know how you're circulating your water, but some type of temporary mechanical filtering may be desirable or necessary.
