White pimple on A. Percula/need help.

Upon inspection of my A. percula clownfish this morning, I noticed a white pimple like blemish on it's belly. This is the first time in five weeks that I have noticed any type of blemish on the A. Percula. Recently she has began to be picky during feedings, and is eating much less. Other than being picky everything is fine, she is swimming around energetically, no heavy breathing, discoloration, etc. The female is currently in a quarantine tank with a male A. Percula, that is blemish free and eating like a pig.

What do you think the white pimple/blemish is? and what should I use to treat them?

Here is a quick video to show you what im talking about, the blemish is behind her left fin, near her belly.

Never seen that before??? Looks like it might be a fungal infection??? Hey at least it's not ick :). Hopefully someone else who has experience with this will chime in, you could try googling "satwater fungus fish".

Thanks Gill Bucket, I googled "saltwater fungus fish" and I believe I found what is wrong with my clownfish.

Cauliflower Disease, Lymphocystis

Symptoms: fin and body lesions that are raised, whitish, warty, and have a lumpy texture like cauliflower. These lesions may take three to four weeks to reach their full size. Despite displaying these symptoms, the diseased fish usually show little distress. In fact, they often continue to feed and behave normally. This infection is usually not deadly; however, it is contagious.

Treatment: The best treatment is the hospital tank. Isolation is the best possible thing, as the fish needs time to let its immune system deal with the illness. This may taken two to three months. Other than that, there really is no cure.

I guess my next question is, should I remove my male clownfish to a seperate tank? And should I really do nothing(besides feed them well and kepp stress levels minimal) or is there some kind of antibiotic that I can supplement?

Bump for an answer, I would really like to get this clownfish on antibiotics if there are any to be given. Sorry to be pushy, just trying to get some help.

Lymphocystis is a virus that will clear up on its own. Since it is a virus, antibiotics will have no effect. Good water quality and time are all that are necessary.

Thank you snorvich, I appreciate your response. since it is contagious, do you think I should remove my male clown to another tank? Or is it safe to assume the male clown probably already has the virus? The two clowns have been together for six weeks now. Thanks again, sorry for all of the questions.

I would not be concerned that it would spread. It is really harmless especially compared to other possibilities. But I am assuming your diagnosis of lymphocystis is correct.
