White spots on acropora

Since the beginning of this week one of my acropora is showing some white spots on the tips and some at the base of the colony.

I hope you guys can help me out before it takes over the coral.

I've added some pictures so you can see what it looks like.

I would definitely check your alk, calcium, and mg.

Could you test these and report back? I think your parameters could be the issue.

Yeah,

First thing I thought of when you mentioned white spots on your acros was AEFW... but it's kind of hard to see any of the typical bite marks they leave.

My next guess would have been the Alk, but your reading of "9" should be fine... UNLESS you recently bumped it up to a "9" over a short period of time, which could result in Alk burn. Have you done any water changes recently?

I would also suspect alk burn, except the white in the pictures looks not like removed or burnt flesh showing white skeleton underneath, but shredded or cotton like? Maybe it's just a slightly blurry pic on a small display.
