White string of poop on clown

Got a clown fish that hasn't eaten anything for the last few days and I noticed white string of poop hanging from him. Visibly looks fine with no symptoms of anything besides no eating and the string poop. Does this mean he has brook or could it just be an internal parasite? I got him about 10 days ago from another hobbyist that was selling him along with a nem. He went straight into my QT that already has all my other remaining fish from my earlier velvet outbreak. Is treatment needed or do i wait it out?

He might be stressed in the QT with all other fish.

That is a possibility i guess, he is a small oscillaris clown that actually really looks like nemo because he has a much smaller fin on his right side and a normal fin on the left. He was also very protective of his nem which he has now been separated from. The QT also has a similar sized picasso clown in it among other fish.

White stringy poop is a symptom of internal/intestinal parasites. I would soak his food with metro, or treat with API General Cure (with contains both metro & prazi).

Don't want to downplay the possibility of internal parasite but I think lack of appetite is related to clowns new environment. I had clowns with white stringy poop but they always ate.
What's your QT set up like? Are there enough hiding places? The picasso's presence is definitely not helping the situation for your new clown.

He did eat for the first few days of being in the QT, just not lately and then i noticed the stringy poop.

The thing that concerns me is why should i treat all the other fish with this medication when they clearly don't need it and how do you feed 1 fish metro when he is not eating?

That's tough. I try to avoid adding fish during treatment bc adding new fish restarts the clock. Unless you are willing to set up another QT just for this clown, it might be necessary to do a prazi pro treatment in your QT.

Perhaps isolate the clownfish to a smaller QT and treat with General Cure in there. Observe the other fish in your main QT for symptoms.

One option is dipping the clown in Ruby Reef Hydroplex and see if it helps. Never tried it myself but under your circumstances I might give it a chance.

I went with the API general cure. I setup a separate 10g tank and put the clown in there last night. He still woudn't eat this morning and he's breathing pretty heavily. Instructions say to dose again after 48hrs.

Good luck. General Cure treats both intestinal parasites and gill flukes. However, if external parasites are afflicting his gills you would need to treat with copper or CP afterwards. Or formalin baths if it turned out to be Brook.

Came home and he was dead...don't know what to make of it.
It didn't look good from last night with him breathing like that. Now I'm wondering if I need to worry about the other fish.

This is what brook looks like when it gets bad. This fish died hours later in QT. Rapid breathing, discoloration, mucous. Otherwise my guess would be flukes

Did not see any slime or mucous, he was just breathing hard and no discoloration. Would a temp spike to around 82 harm him? I realized after i found him i set the temp on the heater incorrectly to 82. When i first put him in that temp was about 78. Could the medication also caused this possibly? Some people reviewing this product online reported their fish dying day after using it.
