White stuff around clownfish mouth!

Aaarrrggg

I just noticed my B&W Ocellaris has got white "stuff" around her mouth! The best way I can discribe it is she looks like she’s been eating flour... messily!

She attempted to host in a Gonoporia a couple of days ago and was burying her head in its tentacles. Could this have caused it or is it something worse?

She's acting normal; eating, begging for food, nagging her lil' man. All the other fish are fine too. Any ideas? Sorry I know these things are a pain without a pic, I'll try and find my camera.

I would post in the disease forum but sounds like cotton mouth or mouth fungus, copper would probably be best treatment, use a QT tank though, not in reef tank.
pic's would be helpful

I agree with ezhoops it sounds like a fungal disease not an injury. Clownfish house themselves in almost everything, though its possible I don't think its the case with the symptoms described.

Curses :(

I have my camera battery on charge, I'll take a photo and see what they make of it on the disease forum. Thanks for your help guys! :)

copper for fungus? maracyn or maracyn2 would be a safer fix, no?

Yes, maracyn2 at double dose would be. Add some Formalin baths to the treatment.

Marine fish rarely come down with fungus.

my maroon looks like that when shes moving rocks and sand. if you want the most effective for sure treatment your going to need to set up a quarentine tank and give it medication.

maracyn 2, double the dose.

you'll need a bio filter from your reef (the oldest dirtist sponge u got will work) i put mine in an aquaclear. if u have no sponge etc you'll need to do a gal water change every single day.

make sure to clean out any uneatten food and poop (turkey baster works great)

when filling the qt, use water from your reef, and keep it at the same temp as your reef.

maracyn 2 is a wonderful medication.

oh just read your having trouble finding maracyn2. Its usually at the petstore type places here in the us (like petsmart, jacks pets, petland etc) they make it for freshwater to so make sure to get the one for saltwater.

Panic over! (I hope!)

I left her in the main tank another night to see if anything new happened and she's looking much better today! Her lips are a little grey but not white like they were. There are still 3 tiny grey specks on one of her pectoral fins, but I think they're scuff marks rather than ich.

It must have been some sort of physical injury. Whew I'm so glad! :D :D :D Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try and get myself some of that maracyn2 for the future.
