Hi guys

I'm after some Small Catalphylia Jardenai Corals/Frags sent to the UK via post.

We can't get them in the UK due to CITES however I spoke to CITES and I can get a small amount imported. Minimum amount of corals I can get direct from an importer is 100 which the UK Gov won't let me have. However 6 or less is ok as they will only be for my tank and not for resale.

If anyone can point me in the direction of anyone that can do this I will pay top $ for some. No kidding.

Cheers

How did you get the UK government to make a personal exemption for you to import even a single protected animal...

Just to add to the above, Anybody exporting corals from the U.S. must possess an export or re-export permit ;)

I rang up UK CITES, DEFRA.

Basically it's the case that on an indivudal basis my case must be examined to gauge the environmental impact. Small numbers are fine but if I were to sell then wrong. It costs roughly $10 for each application and they could always say no.

And yes I do require a seller with an export permit.

Best left in the Ocean.

Have you seen there survival record?

Take a look at Eric Bournemans research study thread on Elegance corals.

You mean maximum, not minimum, right?

Thats why I asked. How can you expect to appease CITES and the UK? If CITES requires a min. of a hundred animals, but the UK will only let you have no more than a few. Sounds like what we call a "Catch 22", so what about the other 90 some odd animals that the UK wont let you have? Just gonna leave them with CITES? Im missing something here.
