Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you that have tank 180+ that do not use calcium reactors on your setups? If not, what do you do?

I appreciate your response

I tried two part on my 600, it was a joke I went through a couple gallons a week and it was a pain in the rear.
On a 180 it woudn't be that bad.
I still like the reactor for a 'large' tank.

Remember, size means very little honestly. A 30 gallon tank can have higher dosing requirements than a 180 depending on how they're stocked.

In my opinion, if kalk and/or dosing keeps up with the tank's requirements, you're able to keep it stable, and doesn't become a hassle, then by all means go for it.

Personally I use a calcium reactor as it's less work for me and keeps my system more stable than dosing by hand. I dosed by hand for a long time, but it eventually got to the point I had to dose in the morning and night or I would have too drastic of a parameter change. At that point I decided to go for the calcium reactor.

I dont!!!

I have a calcium reactor but havent set it up on my new system yet, which has been setup for 8months + and is packed with sps, i get Alot of growth, i use two part, but it took me 8 months to use up 1 jug. it is really easy for me to use too every once in a while i remember to add some and TA--DA!!!

i dont! But then I dont have a single SPS either. My softies and LPS are happy with the weekly dosing of Calcium plus 3. My Calcium is always very low, but i havent encountered any problems with that. I am happy for my corals to NOT outgrow the tank too quickly
