Who else has A. thiellei???

Now that is an odd one. There is no white marking at the caudal peduncle. Do you think you might be able to get some clearer shots? Thank you very much for posting the location of origin.

How about the two pics. She is really a shy girl and difficult to photo a lateral pic.

Those are great shots. Given what I'm seeing I have to wonder if there's some A. perideraion in the blood line. I had spoken with a company that was conducting genetic tests (forgot the name) and they said that they have had a heck of a hard time nailing down the genetic markers for skunk clowns because there is a lot of inter-breeding with them that goes beyond what you see with leucokranos and thiellei.

That really is a one of a kind fish. Thanks for sharing!!!

BTW, is that a S. mertensii carpet???

Yes,it's a S. mertensii carpet.

Looks great! Is that the same one from the first pic? If so, you'll have to share how you got it looking so healthy.

I wanted to add that I stared at your fish last night at some length and was doing some comparisons. I didn't want to say anything yesterday but I think your fish is not a thiellei. The first hint was the lack of a white marking at the tail base (caudal peduncle.)
I think that it is an A. perideraion x A. sandaracinos cross. That's even more rare than A. thiellei. It is to date the most beautiful skunk hybrid I've seen. Take good care of that beauty.

this is just a skunk, the appoll.... one.

hi Vap,
Not sure I follow you. Appoll??? This definately does not fit into any of the normal species descriptions in the skunk complex.
Given your trade, if you know where to get more like the one pictured, please let me know. I checked with Fedex a couple weeks ago and CAN can ship priority overnight to the US.

Im pretty sure this is a hybrid.Even the rare morphs that come out of Fiji dont have this coloration. This fish has a much better apperince than "just a skunk".The body shape isnt even the same as "just a skunk".Nothing of this fish seems to me that it is "just a skunk".

great thread. WDLV, I am interested to here your most definate opinion on which to species are the parents of A. Thiellei?
Thanks,
Nate

Amphiprion akallopisos

I hate to break it to you,but Amphiprion akallopisos dont even have a head bar.The body shape of the fish isnt the same as one either.

sorry you are right, I really haven't look at them in a long while. But they do have the skunk bodyshape. The coloration of fin_wing's actually do look like a normal akallopiso coloration, it has that yellowish bottom with color transition up to pink/brown at the top.

It does have the shape to a point, but its not shaped just like a skunk.Hard to explaine but this fish has a wider shape IMO than a normal skunk. The fish also has a much diffirent color pattern than the normal skunk.
