Who feeds their plate/open brain corals?

speckled trout

I've heard, but wasn't sure, that plate corals need supplemental feedings. Is this true? What would be a good choice to feed them?

How about open brains, also? The brain stays open I just wanted to know what they really like.

Mine used to stay nice and fully expanded until recently. Now it stays only about have open. All the other corals look good and have their polyps extended, as usual.

When I feed my plate, I took an uncooked shrimp and diced it. I added Selcon and Garlic to the shrimp pieces and placed it in the fridge usually good for about a week or so. After a week I went ahead and threw out the unused portion.

I feed my open brain just about everything. it likes mysis, brine shrimp, flake food.

I tried feeding my brain but it's difficult to get it to "stick" to the mouth area. It just seems to float off before the brain has a chance to eat it or pull it into it's mouth.

Speckled trout... try feeding it when its feeder tenticles are out; either late at night or early morning before the lights come on.

Several times a week I feed my brain thawed silversides, krill, or homemade mush.

I've never seen its "tentacles" out. It does this at night?

I've seen sweeper tentacles out on my bubble coral before but not the brain. The brain does inflate, though. I just haven't ever noticed anything resembling tentacles, yet. I'll have to check tonight after the lights have gone off.

THey defintly have short feeder tentacles around the sides if you look carefully. THey are relaly small. Ive seen them come out late at night or usually early in the morning. But if you put food on it, they will come out too.
