Who Feeds Their SPS?

If it is rotifers it will be, but watch out, if its dead AKA frozen, freezedried, preserved, use in moderation.

target feeding at night would be best IMO if you dont have a serious skimmer to help pull out .. what is left behind.

I have target fed Oystereggs, and yes, as they state, it provokes a strong feeding response. My goniopora loves it ... but I also feed my Montipora, Acropora's and other guys that are going to want to eat it....

clams and certain gorgonians DO eat phyto...but acros/montis etcetctectetc...dont eat it IMO

and a good skimmer is one of the best pieces of equipment you can put on a tank IMO

I have heard of people feeding cyclopeeze to their SPS...one guy that does it has a nifty way of making it finer than the packaged product(still dont know if this works though)

Oyster eggs and larvae produced via refugia are a good way to feed IMO

want to put my 2 cents in again about having a skimmer( i wouldnt have ANY tank without one, and a good one at that)

Has anyone tried feeding this?

Roti-Feast from Reef Nutrition

Is it suitable for SPS?

Yes, and more yes :)

This stuff is great! I happen to know one of the guys who makes it too :) (Although not enough to warrant a life time supply of the stuff *grumble*)

Cool!. I'm seeing my LPS reacting to it but have yet to see the SPS take off...

Will continue to feed then. :)

But this stuff and another of their product (Arcti-Pods, my fishes love them by the way) do stop your skimmer from foaming for a long period of time. My skimmer actually stop foaming for an hour everytime after the feed.

It's from the oils/lipids/fats in the food. Ever notice it does the same thing if you stick your arm in the tank without washing it first?

Serioussnaps... good post!!!

If you want color and best growth, you need a skimmer, without, unless you are barely feeding (bad) and you are doing waterchanges of substantial ammounts your NOT going to get GREAT colors and GREAT growth period.. you can get good or ok colors and good or ok growth... but most of the time, you end up with a bunch of brown acros on your hands!

I guess they must have contain a lot of those stuff coz my hand only causes the skimmer to stop for about 5 minutes. :)

Thanks for the info....

EUH, you gotta' greezzzy haand! haha

no seriously , are you feeding your fish crisco?

There just doesn't seem to be a consensus on whether or not captive corals should be fed. Is "fish poop" really food for corals? I feed oyster eggs and Reef Roids two or three times a week. I assume this is a good thing, but I'm definitely not certain.

Good question, since more fish poop contains alot of phytoplankton... and SPS dont eat it... hummmm... something isnt adding up to me just yet.

DeansReef, you can get Oyster eggs at your local aquatic pet store... just ask for it, if they dont have it tell them its from DT's and see if they can get you some... expect to pay about 20 to 25 dollars a "can"... its a small 1 or 2 ounce can but it last a while.. you only use 1/5 teaspoon per 50 gallons.. so its dense stuff!

I've never seen true proof that all this excess stuff really does help growth or color. I've seen so many tanks with excellent growth that doesn't use any other additives. I've tried using several before and honestly, I never noticed any benefits. I have a high growth and my colors are very vibrant.

I would really like to see someone try it for 2 months without and document growth and color and try it for 2 months with and document color and growth.
