Who has a Pistol Shrimp?

I am going to get an orange spotted goby and I was reading that they pair up well together. Just curious if anyone has them together or a pistl shrimp by themselfs and can give me some thoughts on them.

i had a yellow watchman with a pistol shrimp and the shrimp killed alot of other things in my tank and from them making so many burrows it destroyed my tank. i think they are good for a specimen tank but beyond that i wont keep them in a reef tank again.

they are cool too wath when they are together but they are a destructive pair when they are together as well. just my 2 cents..

The Tiger pistol and the Randolls pistol are the two most likely ones to pair up with most watchman and prawn gobies, so keep that in consideration.

I have one in a 40 gallon reef and hes one of the funnest to watch.i got lucky because he only burrows under one rock on the side so he doesnt destroy anything. i also tried pairing a yellow watchman with it but they didnt get togehter. i think it was because the goby was sick when i bought it, poor guy died. but either way i like my pistol, cleans the sand in his area and eats up any loose food. Only downside is the clicking noise you hear all the time from there claw. if you look it up on youtube theres a really cool video showing one in the wild shooting his ''pistol''. All n all i havent had any casualties from him and i find to to be a very interesting species.

My LFS had like 20 or so greenish pistols they dumped in a misc. tank and I bought about five for a song. They're currently scattered about my mantis tank.

What really amazed me was that they can 'chip' the live rock when burrowing. It's not a huge break like the mantis but they manage to wear down quite a bit for their size.

The only real casualty I got was when a skittish damsel darted straight at one and got stunned and swam in a daze into my peacock mantis' waiting arms...munch munch.

I have 2 tigers in one tank and 2 randall's in another. Unfortunately my gobies died in a tank move, but the pistols lived. They're model citezens so far.

We have a Randall's goby paired with a Black Ray Fin goby and a Tiger pistol paired with a White Ray Fin goby and they rock. I've had no issue with them killing anything, but they do cause quite a sandstorm when they decide to re-dig a tunnel. My only recommendation in a reef tank is to make sure all corals/frags that you have on the sandbed near their caves are on decent size rocks or plugs. My Tiger pistol disappeared with a brand new blue zoo frag that I put to close to his burrow. Never saw it again...

I have a blue leg p. shrimp. His snapping is loud and mostly at night. I like this because he is telling me everything is okay with the tank. Another thing I like is I don't feed him. He eats uneaten food and fish poo. The thing I don't like is that he kills inverts, all my snails and an urchin.
