Who has a Tunze Powerhead?

I just ordered 2 Tunze Turbelle Nanastream 6015 Pumps and am prepping my acrylic tank to run the power cables through and was wondering if I need to drill an 1.25" hole to fit a standard 3 prong plug or if it has a separate fitting that plugs into an adapter or something of that nature so I could get away with drilling a much smaller hole. If the latter option is the case how large of a hole would I need. Thanks - Matt

The nanostreams I have had in the past have all been standard 2 prong plugs. Can't hurt to wait till you actually get them before you drill, to be 100% sure on the hole size.

the only pumps that don't connect straight to a power cord are the controllable ones. the non controllable pumps do but I have only seen tunze with 2 prong not 3

Yeah I was hoping to get all the prep work done this weekend so I could start cycling it and they're not supposed to be here for another week. I'm drilling it because it's a weird design, pretty much only two small opening towards the front for feeding/ maintenance and then a couple holes in the back center for the plumbing of the previous filter but I want to feed the cables straight up and out for a nice clean look rather than seeing cord running through the tank

Not trying to start a war or a which is better thread. We have enough of those.

But.........

Have you ever seen a Vortech? They couple the motor and the pump side through the wall of the tank so the cords are not in the tank. You would not have to drill your tank for a wire. I know you already ordered but... I think it would probably be a better choice.

Also, in regards to your hole size. You can just lob off the power cord at the plug and feed it through a small hole. They sell new plugs at HD. It shouldn't have an effect on your warranty. Its just a plug.

Vortech's are really cool but Damn expensive... If I could've afforded two of those I would've gone that route. I thought about cutting the cord as well but I think I'm just going to drill a big enough hole and then seal it with acrylic after as to not tamper with the equipment should I decide to get rid of them down the road. Thanks for the suggestions.
