who has heard of this? any opinions?

It's been out for a long time in Europe just started in the states last year. Go to sps forum alote of threads on these pellets. I think they work from what I've seen in threads. I'm going use it on my next setup.

HMMM.. very interesting. are they being used in some sort of pressureized canister? like a Calc reactor of those sulfur denitrators?

Nop just run it like you would GFO. Also I've ready that NP BioPellets drops PH big time. Till you play with the flow. Which can take up to a week.
So that's why I went with WM Pellets. Been on it for a month or so ago. I run mine in a 2 little fishy 150reactor at 250-275gph. But get some slime alge as you would see when dosing to much carbin. So I had a pump full speed at 400-450gph so I turn it down too 250-275gph and It looks like it's going away. No3 are at 0. with LaMotte po4 at 0.04 with a hannametter. Also I run 1lt of pellets in a 165gal of water. I should add more need to order some.

Bill you need to chime in.

Bill we need your input

Neither, They just go into a BRS reactor or any one like the Phosban reactors. The whole premise is basically Solid Vodka dosing (Carbon Source) Limited to a reactor opposed to the whole system being dosed with liquid carbon (Vodka). They have a break in period for the Bacteria to start producing the strain that will consume No3/Po4 and ultimately be removed by your Skimmer.
Please note that all these Pellets require a highly efficient skimmer to be effective in removing these waste products from the water column and some have adverse side effects such as Diatom outbreaks on the sandbed and some cases of Cyano (Red Slime)
They do quickly go away in my case with the Warner Marine product (Eco-Bak) and It has been keeping my tank pristine with no other products being used (GFO/Phosguard)
All my test are at 0 using Salifert test kits. And my coral looks better than the tank i used to Vodka dose on and they were Amazing as far as Color and growth. This is JMHO and is been only in use a short time so far. It remains to be seen how it does long term, But so far i am very pleased.

So bill havenyou had any slime alge with this. I know when dosing carbon you cut it down To 1/2. Thats why I turned my flow down. Like to have your input. I need to do more resreach. But this is new so not tomuch info out there on takeing care of alge blooms.
Thanks bill

No, Not a trace of it only thing i had was the Brown Dino outbreak that went away after about a week. Then it's just a waiting game until they become colonized. If you want more info just call me.

hmmm... I might just have to look into something like this. Im actually going ot explore new things to me on this new tank. I will still have some of the old school... but these things look interesting.

it peaked my interest but didnt think about the skimmer thing, i guess would not really work with my current hardware but sounds like a easy "hands off" approach with less frequent media changes. Ill keep them in mind when I build my next system, sounds like you need to make sure your skimmer is over rated for your volume to utilize this approach!
