Hi

I have been talking with some really great aquarists from brazil whon got really beatiful acros in their tanks and they all think the same, led can't make acro get really colorful you get some color but nothing compared with t5, so I'd like to know, who has trully colorful acros with just leds?

Post pictures please!

Thanks

really colorful? that is more of an opinion. however, to answer your question; imo, no one.... i've used both, "high end leds" and mh/t5 and it isn't even close. mh/t5s color-up sps'; leds pale-up sps'.....

I'm starting to agree I got great growth but not getting the great color under led.

I'm thinking best option is mH with led blues for supplement lighting

Chsub,

Thats what i've been thinking, i have ai sol blue and my sps Neves got color, weren't brown and had a skin tone. It's been a week since I placed 2 t5 and i have some color finnaly

better than i was able to do with leds, however in the 1-2 months since i made the change my color and growth is more what i wanted. i'm yet to see, including that thread, anything close to the color i've seen with MH/t5s both in-person and on RC...example would be REEFBUM.

edit: i will stick to my original statement: no one!!!!

I am pretty new to sps. I am running a kessel 350. So far I am vary happy with my colors. My greens are vary bright as well as my blue pieces.

i was one of the first user of a "full spectum" led lamp (non diy). i went about 8 months and it would take 3-5 months before the colors of the sps' would suffer and some sps' did ok the whole 8 months. prior to the gradual color loss, the coral looked and grew well. what i thought was improving color was actually paleing of color.

Disagree

I also used both MH and T5, and now I´m using Led´s ( vega )

For me, the colors are as good as was with MH and T5

Best Regards

I have switched from LED back to T5 on my SPS tank. And my mate has also just sold his 4 mitras units to go back to T5's.
In my opinion, Like everything in life you gotta pay to play, and you get what you pay for, be it the cost of T5 tubes, or the cost of cooling from MH, you simply cant beat T5 or MH.
Take a look at any video of the korallen zucht store :)
I do still run LED's on my LPS/SOFTY tank however, and they are great for that purpose, especially if you have pure blue led on for a period

There is definitely polyp growth differences from LED to MH that's for sure. I don't think anyone will would disagree that MH / T5 growths sps differently / better then LED's.

Henry nice tank.

Just to be a pain, do you have any red or pink coral with good color?

I just say that because the green ones i known that leds can handle.

Love it but do u jave any nice blues and yellows? I have noticed green orange red pink all easy will led but blue and yellow?

Yes, however it seems that too much light is most of the time the problem
this is after 4 weeks. Coloring better every day.

I also got other corals higher in the tank that are getting more pale. Tuning down the light at the moment of my pacific sun leds

also got this one fluo green (bad hazy picture)

Both of them are below the middle of the tank.
