Who has small fish rooms for big tanks?

I'm still planning out my 4'x4'x20" cube and need to build a fish room. Not sure how much room I can spare in my basement. It is about 1000sq ft. My basement is set up for 2 bedrooms and a bath down there w/ all the other stuff (water heater, softner, furnace, etc). I have one room that I want to blow out a wall and open a room (a third room not one of the 2 bedrooms) up and make a family room where the tank will be. I have an opportunity to use two closet that are back to back so the room would be 32" x 11ft or so. That is a ver narrow room but I can fit 95% of the equipment under the stand.

Anyone have a very small room on a bid tank? Pics, specs, etc please

This is what my basement looks like now

This is what I am thinking of doing

This is the whole basement w/ the wall removed for the living room. There is a label where the tank room might go.

Just wondering if this will be enough room as I can fit all the equipment under my stand except the co2tank and the CL pump and plumbing that comes out the back of the tank

I do. I am still working on the room, and the tank was brought in from the garage today. I have a total of 3 feet behind the tank and about 3 feet on one side. Tank is 4 x 8 approx. 600 gallon. Whatever water lines that need to run across this space will be routed into the back corner and then across to the tank side, to avoid blocking the walk. Sorry no pics yet.

Lots of options, heres what I would do:

Extend the closet in the storage room to the full width(9'4") and then split it in half, one half for the bedroom and the other for the storage room. Or does a storage room really need a closet? Reverse the doors so that it opens to the bedroom. Or If the bedroom is just for guests buy a stand up wardrobe big enough for a suitcase of clothes to go into.

Either way I would steal/beg/borrow the bedroom closet and add it to the fish rooms space. (Wheres the frag tank going to go?) :)

I'm facing the same decisions in about 8 months time.

Oh sorry I forgot to clarify. That storage room closet will be the bedroom closet. I will then use the two bedroom closets (remove the wall that is between them) so it is one long room about 3' deep and 11ft long.

That 2nd picture is what it would look like w/ the wall between the closets removed.

That make more sense now?

untamed that is NICE. I'll check out that thread. So I guess I'm not far off of what quite a few people have. I guess I"ll need to make very efficient use of the space I have. I won't be able to fit a wash sink in there though :(

Untamed - where did you get those sweet sumps

Please pose more pics of your set ups and your thread builds

Thanks! The PE sumps (as well as the FW tank and the SW mix tank) were all purchased through Plastic-mart.com. They were manufactured by Ronco Plastics in California.

There are lots of places that one can purchase these type of tanks. In my case, the challenge was to find ONE place that I could order ALL the four sizes I needed.

Photos for no particular reason...

I HIGHLY recommend a sink!!!!!!!

I have to 2nd the sink suggestion. I couldn't live without that sink in the fish room. I use it constantly.

mine will soon be in my walkin closet,it will be a 210 with a 75g sump, iron stand, maybe 3 to 4 ft of walking room,it will show in the living room, kitchen & bedroom on each end, and backs up to a bathroom,so i can run my drain into the bathroom & i can hook my RO unit up from the kitchen with the ice maker,my big problem im running into is whats the best way to vent such a small closet,
