and how long have you had him? I've had one 6 months and he has grew an inch a month, seriously! He was tiny whenever I got him, smaller than my coral beauty and now only 6 months later he is about 7 inches. Who has the biggest vlamingi on RC?

this one is about 3 months ago.

Yesterday I noticed he is already starting to get the hump on his nose.

Very nice! I am looking to get a vlamingi when I upgrade. How aggressive are they? When they get older. I see you have a queen as well. What about your other tangs, hippo's are passive, but yellows and naso? I have had hard time with tangs fighting with my angels, mainly my queen, she is small like yours (3"). I wanted to do sometime similar with your stock list, vlamingi, naso, and another tang (purple, yellow, salfin). Everyone get along ok? Your tank is a little on the HUGE side though! I plan on getting a 210-265.

I just noticed a purple under the valmingi, how does he go with the mix? That is a lot of tangs! But you definitely have the room. The h. tusk get along good too? I love them! Beautiful colors!

The vlamingi is the boss for sure. He had a hard time with the Naso coming into HIS tank. I've had the Naso about 3 weeks now and he gave the Naso a really hard time adapting. Matter of fact, the vlamingi killed a 4" Naso about 2 months ago. I tried it again because this Naso was bigger than the vlamingi. The purple is aggressive as well. The Naso is very passive, but has some nasty barbs on his tail.

On a side note, update from my most recent stocklist I have added a 5" Adult Emperor Angel and 2 - lyretail anthias (male and female).

The tank is really looking good now.

Didn't see the emperor. How does he interact? 5" adult color? I can't wait for mine to change!! What about the queen? So the valmingi is aggressive. I should get one small, I'd love to find one an inch long like you got rekn. I wonder how a blonde naso and a purple tang would do in the mix. Need a bigger tank. Which tang would you add first? Or add them all at the same time? Maybe the naso since they are probably the most passive? Any more pics of your tank? I love it, nice stock list as well.

I will get some new pics of my tank up again this week. I added a little more rock to the island and the mix of fish and color are astonishing. The emperor is a knockout, color is amazing. As long as you have a 6' tank you can probably keep a vlamingi. My brother in law kept one is a 155g for about 3 years, it was the biggest one I ever seen. It was a monster, I think it was 15+" and ate like there was no tomorrow. It finally died of a strange fungus. I got mine around 1.5" or maybe 2" for like $30. It was funny because the coral beauty chased it everywhere when it was introduced. Now the vlamingi makes about 4 of the CB's.

I just recently sold mine.
Was just under 12" and I grew him up since he was a measly 4"
I miss that fish dearly. He just needed a bigger tank. Luckily he went into a 400+ gallon tank.

how long did you have him nocturnal? What size tank did you grow him out?

FWIW, my emperor that I just bought looks exactly like the one in your avatar. NICE!

Started him out in a standard 90 gallon then moved up to a 135 and then as stated, unfortunately he needed bigger eventually.
Had him 4 years. Got to the point where he could eat and entire sheet of Nori in one sitting. He was a fatty ;)

Congrats on the Emp. They're great fish also

Mine is 6-7" and very thick and very happy. He is in a 225 with a humu trigger, snowflake eel, lawnmower blenny and fairy wrasse. Heres my buddy:

Here is a pic of my Vlamingi. He is 12 inches. We have had him for about a year. We traded someone in our aquarium society a 8 inch emperor for him.
