Who keeps Zoas SUCCESSFULLY under Halides and how far below the lights are they and how much lighting do you have??

I have 250w x 2 DE and my zoas are about 20"+ below the lights and don't have much success... sometimes they dont open and I feel my lights are too strong. Do you dose anything to help the zoas?

Melev has zoas in his tank under halides. I doubt its the lighting n your tank. Maybe you should look somewhere else. Water quality, other corals irritating it???

Lights shouldn't be a big problem. These pictures are under 2x250w XM 10k and 2x140w VHO actinics and as you can see the zoanthids thrive. XM has one of the highest PARs around.

I have a large Zoa garden on the bottom of my 90 with 2X150W MH. Most are on the side lit by a 14K Phoenix and go great. If they aren't opening look for Nudibranchs or white fungus.

If you dont adjust them to the light they will spit out brown stuff which is from my understanding thier zooxanthellae. Mine looked horrible for awhile when i switched to MH but they eventually got better.
