Who here still has Basket Starfish?

Like the title says, who here still has Basket Starfish? I remember several people bought some here. Mine died when my 180 cracked, but I've had them a month and they were still doing very well and growing a lot before my 180 cracked. Both grew back several legs in that month. I'm thinking about getting 1 or 2 for my 28 gallon. :D

I've had one for several months now, and it appears to be doing well. Im always paranoid though, s it can take many months for some inverts to show major signs of starvation and stress. He reacts really well to his 3am feedings of Rods, mysis and brine though.
Moses, what were you feeding yours? If it was regrowing limbs, it was obviously getting the nutrition it needed

I can sell you a bag if you want. Each bag is 1 lb.

Also, a thing I noticed about the Basket Starfish was that they never ever ate when when the powerheads were off even when they were fully open, the only time they ate food was when the powerheads were at full blast. Oh, and also, they love strong flow, they will keep moving around until they find a spot with the highest flow which was on the tip of the gorgonians.

I still have one. Small guy. I'm really mad though because the other day I did something during a water change that I think killed all three of my feather stars. One was 3 years old. 3 years old!

Wow, sorry to hear, that really really sucks. Can you tell us what you did so we would all know so no one would make a similar mistake?

No idea. I just did a water change. Params fine and normal. Wish I knew. I think one or two might be hangin on but it doesn't look good.

Interested as well since I plan on getting one, once my system is setup.

ccritters sells them for $8, they're directly from the diver so I guess that should increase your chance.

Here are a few links to online stores who are divers and who carry Basket Starfish.

Moses, one thing to keep in mind is how big they get. In the right conditions they will outgrow your size aquarium quickly.

Yeah, I know. Maybe, once it grows 1 feet in diameter, I'll set up a special tank just for it, with hardly any rock, one big gorgonian and the tank will be around 3.5 feet x 3.5 feet x 3.5 feet? IMO, that would be a kick a$$ tank. lol
