So I found some eggs today and I was wondering if anyone knew who laid them. They are in a clear goo and the eggs themselves are pink in color. here's a picture, the best I could get since my camera had a hard time focusing in on them. (wish I had a macro lens)
margarita snails
cerith snails
astrea snails
hermits
some kind of pistol that hitch hiked
2 ocellaris clowns
green mandarin
2 possibly 3 peppermints (haven't seen the first one I added)
To what I know that's an unlikely place for clowns to lay eggs if you have live rock.
Maybe the mandarin's eggs floated there.
Is there alot of flow in your tank?
I think you would know if your clowfish did in fact spawn in your tank, whether the eggs floated over or not. Their behavior alone would indicate that something was up. I doubt it was the mandarins as well. I think they're broadcast spawners just like the margarita snails. It's something else. Cerith snail eggs don't look like that in my opinion and I'm pretty sure the peppermint shrimp carries the brood around underneath the body and then releases them into the water at the right time.
Other than the astrea snails, the hermit crabs and the pistol shrimp, you might just have a mystery spawner on your hands. Let's hope it's friendly.
