Who makes 180-210 gallon rr tanks?

I want to buy a new 180 gallon -210 gallon tank that is reef ready, but I want a drilled tank with a bigger bulkhead than the standard 1" drain.
I contacted 2 different lfs in my area recently about ordering a All Glass 180 with 2- 1-1/2" bulkhead fitttings and the price was nearly double the price for a standard rr All Glass tank.
Does anybody else make tanks with bigger drains?

I would also like to know before I spend money on a regular 180 rr. Custom drilling at a local LFS is an extra 100-200 per hole! that's crap.

Well, you can't drill a tank from most tank manufacturers as they use tempered glass on the bottom. You (or the LFS) could drill the back, but you can't enlarge the existing holes in the overflow.

Unfortunately, I think you are looking for a custom job, so you might as well go to a custom tank manufacturer and get all the wholes you want, but be prepared to pay for it.

Yeah I emailed glasscages and I'm looking at about $1400 for a 210 with the front starfire.
I might have been able to swing that, but they told me $700 of it would be shipping. Thats hard to take. I think that if they would have just said the total and not the breakdown, I would have guessed the tank would have been at around the $1000 mark and the rest would have been the shipping. It might be better to be blissfully ignorant sometimes.lol

Find someone closer and use the extra money to get a better/bigger tank. No need to waste that much on shipping.

I'd really like to, but no one has given me any leads on tank manufatures.
I contacted glasscages, heard from them. Emailed miraclesaquariums and am waiting for a quote.

Wish I could help you there...I am not very familiar with all the tank manufacturers...expecially way out there :-) If you go acrylic I think that gives you more options..

Maybe I have a solution for you... I checked glasscages.com and clicked on the Deliveries/Show list...

GlassCages will be in Seattle WA on 8/13/2006 and they can bring your ordered tank there and you can pick it up. Their site says there is a small charge for "delivering" to the location they will be at. I assume "small" means a hell of a lot less than $700 shipping charge :)

Good luck!!

Thank-you, they are one of the manufactures I was looking at.

yea i'm thinking of getting a tank from them myself and to have it brought to a location by them it was only going to cost me 80 dollars as compared to over 400 for shipped to a terminal near me. I bet you'll save a bundle that way.

If you consider acrylic to be an option for you, then Envysion Acrylics is in Portland, Or area. That's only a couple of hours driving for you.

I ordered a 240gal from Glasscages with 3 overflows and drilled with extra large holes, it ended up costing me $800 with the small pick-up fee. So are you originally from Olympia? I went to Timberline HS and WSU.

Wish you would have left your 240 here when you left.

Just picked up a terrarium for my kid's bearded dragon from glasscages.com on one of their delivery dates. Several other people picking up tanks were repeat customers. One was a local aquarium installer. He said he's never had any issues with their tanks--although he admits their customer service leaves something to be desired. My terrarium top plastic frame was loose on one corner, but nothing serious. It was shrink wrapped in place, which means they probably knew there was a problem, but chose to ship it anyway.

I was going to get a 225g RR from glasscages and pick it up in orlando in July. The "small" pickup fee was $120. Not too great but WAY better than the $585 for shipping.

I doubt the large tanks like that have tempered bottoms. All-Glass, Oceanic, Ocean View Aquariums, etc. do NOT temper the bottom glass on tanks over 75 gallons. You can check their website to see this...
http://all-glass.com/products/aquariums/large.shtml

Looks at the chart on this page and you will see an asterisk * next to the 75E which means it is made from tempered glass. You can also call 1800-ALLGLASS and ask for the info directly from them.
