Who owns a Fu Manchu?

Hi guys,

I'm considering this fish as the "centerpiece" fish for my new 56g tank. I have some questions, if you don't mind helping me..:

1) Does this fish have the ability to eat full grown ocellaris clownfish?

2) Have you been successful in training onto frozen food? If so, how did you do it?

3) Is QT necessary for this fish? Would it be alright to use a 25g tank to do that?

4) Can this fish handle high flow?

5) How long can this fish go without food, if you were to go on vacation?

6) Do you ever see these locally? Where to get them?

Thanks!
Angela

General rule of thumb, fish that are half the size of the lion are safe, anything under coud be lunch. Frozen is possible, it will take work and expect to use live food for a while. A quarantine would be good and a 25 gallon is fine for a while. Couple weeks tops. The key with frozen is to make it look alive.

Well, I trained a fuzzy dwarf, but wasn't sure if this fish was more difficult.

Well, I had ready that this particular lion had a small mouth compared to the other dwarfs. My smallest fish is my male ocellaris- about 3" long, maybe 1" high.

Remember the FuManchu isn't usually up in the water column like the rest. They have a tendency to stick near the bottom and at times "crawl" on the sea floor. They are a gorgeous fish for sure. They could possibly eat your clowns if it was hungry enough. If you do get one you know when they will eat a particular fish. Once they lock on, they hunt until it disappears. These guys have one of the coolest hunting movements I have ever seen in a fish. Good luck with it all!!

Yeah, I knew about the bottom dwelling, still thought it would be cool. Not willing to add it if it can eat the ocellaris. :( That stinks. I guess I'm too hopeful:/ Other cool recommends? The tankmates are a dwarf angel and an ocellaris pair.

Thx,
Angela
