Seems to me they can grow up pretty nicely -

(really still just a baby, some 5 - 6")

I think ORA just released a bunch like this one. I have one similar and I remember someone else recently posted a pic of another on here. Keep your eyes peeled and you may stumble across one.

I wish I could offer some detailed data, just don't have it.

It could very well be an ORA clam, local vendor gets a lot from them.

It could also be location - it's way high up in the tank under 2x250 DE MH (like near the top). It started there when it was small (1.5 - 2") so it would get the max light for growth...........it was happy there or got adjusted so I left it.

I certainly likes the light, under the supplemental T5 (2x54 - dusk/dawn) it's only open 40%..........when the halides kick in it opens up like this = seems to love the light.

ive always thought squamosa's were nice looking clams. i like that one a lot erik! i am picking up two four to five inch squamosa's tomorrow.... can't wait! i love clams. i have a five inch teardrop max, four small maxima's, a three inch derasa and a two inch crocea. i have four ultra maxima's on order for next week and i would love to find a nice gigas in the 3-7" range. my LPS got in a gigas a couple of weeks ago, it was supposed be 9"...its at least 14. while its awesome looking, way too big for my tank. i am seriously considering adding another sump just to house it.... a clam filter!

Very nice, got some blue in there too!
Squamosa clams can be gorgeous and rival some teardrop maximas. I used to have a couple that would blow your mind. One was lime in color, patterned very much like a teardrop, and each lime dot had a blue spot in the center of it.

Then there was this guy. Very similar to yours, except instead of blue it was green and copper.

sweet tj.... while squamosa's might not have the gaudy colors, they more than make up for it pattern IMO. i am waiting on a couple of 4-5" squamosa's and hope to pick them up soon.
