Who to order LeeMar tank from?

If i could crash this thread for a sec.. :) I wondered if anybody has used clear silicone on a build? I always see black, and while it looks great,I would love the clear box of water look, and wonder if anybody has any input? Thank you:)

The reason I went with Black is that it looks cleaner with a black back. I've also read that the clear silicone can yellow after a while and look generally bad. Black just stays black.

For those of you who went with the internal trapezoidal overflow, what is the depth on yours. I was told that Leemar does a minimum of 6" depth, but that seems super deep!

Mine is about 6 3/4" from front to back. I actually needed mine to be that deep otherwise plumbing my herbie with my return would have been pretty tight in there.

Has anyone experienced issues with the paint scratching or peeling off?

Yes. Mine just started flaking off at the extreme corners as a result of moving it from Aaron's store to my garage. Its just really minor and not noticeable at all from the front. For some reason Leemar decided to change their material for painting the back glass. On a Leemar that i got about 6 years ago it had a really thick coating. Almost epoxy-like that was extremely durable and glossy. On my recent tank that i picked up a few months ago it looks like its just some sort of sprayed on krylon paint with a matted finish. Not sure why they switched, but as long as it doesn't start coming off in large flakes, i'm ok with it. If i had my preference i'd go with the epoxy coating.

I've had a few Leemar tanks and their black paint on the back is complete crap! Do not get it! I would just use window tint or the vinyl backing they sell at Marine Depot that is applied using water. Over time you will see lots of tiny holes and it looks like crap!

you could always paint it yourself and find a thicker heavier paint that would last longer. what size tank did aaron order? I'm going to order one soon from him. Did you get eurobraced? I also think I will do a rear over flow as to limit the space lost, just an idea....

I've already ordered it, so it's coming painted by Leemar. I'll just re-paint it down the road if I have a problem.

I ordered a 40x24x22 (approx. 80g) Rimless.

Well, not good news! LeeMar built the tank wrong, clear silicone instead of black... The front silicone also had some extensive bubbling. Now they're trying to push back saying they won't have time to re-do the tank by my LA trip at the end of the year to pick it up... It seemed that the negative reviews of LeeMar were all from years ago and they had regained their credibility.

The next few weeks will determine a lot...

WOW! That is just the look I am going for.. my tank would be only 48 x 18 x 21 though .. where did you get the stand , was it a custom finish? LOVE it!

sorry for the delay been busy getting things set up. Leemar also did the stand. I am very happy with the quality, it looks beautiful. So much nicer than my 110g TruVu. Although my TruVu has never given me any problems, so I can't complain

I thought I'd follow up since I just got my tank home yesterday. LeeMar ended up making a couple other small mistakes but corrected everything in the end and on time.

Aaron @ SPS Coral Store was easy to work with and very helpful through the whole process. I highly recommend him and would definitely buy from him again.
