ok i will try there. up where i am at there are two small lfs that get in ok stuff but keep it under poor conditions and charge way too much for it. so i am deciding to give them some competition, a third coral store, so now the leg work has started and i need to find some supliers

yeah that is there new breed of coral 
. i went to the other palce today and was basically ignored and given bad looks as they are starting to know who i am and dont like it. they try running tank maintenance with no bus. license or legal stuff. so in short i am just seeing an opening and going for it. kinda like car racing, if you see it, the drive forward and go for it before someone slams the door on you.

I was trying to convey here the other day how cut throat the business up there is.....and how it often depends on how you are treated........
Its kinda like getting ignored at one lumber yard, and then driving across town or the next to the one that treats you better......I knew of a lot of people that did that......

yeah well i am just starting out and the word to them somehow spread quickly, balanced is cool but fin isnt. so i think i am gonna start off by renting a keosk at the mall and seeing how that works for getting my name out there. i know i can do way better than them, just have to keep overhead low and give customers A+ service

Tim, there is a wholesaler in Sac off Northgate, but they are small in the salt dept. Mostly freshwater. There are a few in the bay area, but all the big ones are in LA near the airport.
I am sure the quality your LFS is getting is due to the fact that they just order over the phone or via fax, so they get what they get. If you want the top of the line quality animals, you need to go and hand pick your animal if you want the best.

UWW is scary, definitly not on my "best of list"
Marine Wholesale, SDC and PAF are the best in the terms of corals, and SDC has it hands down for selection and quality of fish. Eric of SDC has a real passion for the industry, he runs a tight ship. Same with Walt, Dave and Gacin, PAF is spotless
Tue and Thurs are the best day to visit 104th St. Gotta show up at openning though. Fortunatly, they all open at different times, so you can effectively go from one openning to another.
