whos using T5 HOs?

No, I am running ATI powermodule 10 x 54W HO T5. Mcliffy2 is running Sfiligoi 12x54w T5 HO. SunnyX is running Constellation 7 x 54W T5 HO. None of them are IceCap overdriven ballast.

Kangym. thanks
Well I have a72 bowfront tank and I trying to figure out how many bulb system I will be able to fit on it. I think the 6 bulb may fit on it but not sure. If I have to drop back to a 4 bulb system I think I might have to go to the Over drive version with IC ballast
Any input would be helpful.

I'm officially making the jump the T5's!!!! I started selling off my current lighting setup today here on RC. I'm going with a 6x80w Icecap Setup with Aqua Illumination reflectors and for bulbs I'm going with 2- ATI Aquablue Special, 1- ATI Pro Color, and 3- ATI Blue Plus. The setup should be here sometime next week. I hope the bulb combo will look how I want.

all T5 here also.. sorry dont have a FTS that I'm happy with to share..
Ming (kangym) hope to see that tank soon, I may be in modesto next weekend...

T5's over an SPS tank? No way, it cant be done! :p

I have used MH in the past and will never go back. The coloration and growth with T5 has been much better. More info on my thoughts about MH vs T5 HERE

The fixture is 3" off the surface of the tank so its about 22-23" off the sandbed. Acans bleach even on the sandbed!

would any of you run t5's on a tank that 8'L x 3'w x 26" h, if so what would ya get ? i got about 2 grand to play with. thanks for your info

Some great tanks in this thread. For many years, I was a die-hard MH fan boy. However, I am just getting back into the hobby after a couple year absence and really thinking of going T5 HO only over the new tank. I'm thinking 6x39W over my 40G Breeder.

This will run you a little more than 2K but it is what I would use if you were going full T5. Two of these would be great CLICK HERE

Or, you could retrofit it yourself and save some money. Personally, I would rather get a pre-made fixture with the shield and fans already built in.

I supplement my halides with T5s. I run 3 SE 400W bulbs and 8 39W T5s. Halides (driven by Sunlight Supply Blue Wave 7 HQI ballasts) are 20K Radiums while T5s are Giesemann POWERCHROME Actinic Plus. I like this combo a lot because it gives my the colors as well as great growth. However, I'm lovin the T5 only tanks in this thread!

ATI Aquablue Special
ATI Blue+

2. About a month.

3.
3x Blue+ : Noon-11:30PM
Blue+, Aquablue Special: 2:30PM-10:30PM
2x Aquablue Special: 4:30PM-9:30PM

4. I dont feed my tank much so there was no difference in feeding. I feed Amino Acids every few days in small doses. Other than that, my corals get no other food. My fish eat well so their waste helps feed the corals. I dose:

-Brightwell Microbacter7 bacteria
-Vodka
-Lugols Solution
-Brightwell Coral Amino

Sonny Question for you... about a month ago I changed from PC lighting to T-5 lighting for my 55g. I had the T-5 light about 5 inches off the water, and some of the corals didn't seem to like it and seemed to be burned. Now I have it about 10 inches off the water. It's looking better, but not the colors I would like. My acro seem to be sheading. My orange montipora is a faded orange. Any thoughts/reason why?

My light order is:
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
UV Lighting 75/25
ATI Blue Plus

My blue lighting goes on 1 hour before and after my daylights. The daylights are on for 8 hours.

I have always like the shimmering that metal halides give off, one of the reasons I have always used them. I just got my 125 and was going to go with 3 - 250 watt mh, but if I was to go with the T5's is there anyways to make them shimmer like the halides? Maybe add some LED's? And if I go with the T5's should I run 750 watts of T5's?

Or what if I went with 3 150 watt MH and 4 54 watt T5's... Now I get the shimmer I want, but will that kind of setup work?
