Why 2x400 is better than 2x175

Ok I recently changed my 75g from having 2 175w burning for 12 hrs to 2 400w burning 6hrs each.
1. The 400w last about 2-3k hrs longer
2. The 400s are a bit cheaper than 175s compared watt per $.
3. And most important !! The 400s penetrate the water much better than the 175s, when using them as I do (1-400 each time and both on only for 1hr) it assimilates nature better, as morning, afternoon and night. When the fish want less light, they just move to the shaded part of the tank, where with the 175s they don't have a choice. :rolleye1:

Why don't your fish go hide under the rocks when they want a bit of shade?
They do, but they seem more happier just hanging in the shaded part.
Anyway I like it better also, it seems more natural with light variations.

that is how i had my 2x250 on my 65 and stopped doing that cause i thought that my corals where dying because they didn't get enough light. Or am i wrong. I had one one from 11 to 4 both between 4 and 5 and then the last one on from 4 to 8 ish.

250 maybe just a bit small to do this. I use 400. My total watts in the 75 blasting a total of 2x400mh+2x96 comp+2x65 actinic, its amazing how much light it takes to assimilate a natural sunny day :D
