Perpendicular to the glass like edwing said, and a faster shutter speed. It looks like the Flowerpot is blurred because it's moving while the picture was being taken. A faster shutter speed would freeze the movement better. The downside of using a fast shutter speed is the depth of field will be narrow/shallow. You can get the best of both worlds (fast shutter speed and good depth of field) by using a flash... and the downside of using a flash is it sometimes makes the colors look unnatural. Flowerpots usually look good with a flash though.
