I have a 29 gallon tank with 10 gallon sump, been running almost two years. I constantly show ammonia at about .25 ppm. I can't understand it. I just did a 7 gallon water change, which is nearly 25% and i'm still reading for ammonia!!! Please Help.

It's red sea marine lab..

I use ro/di from my lfs...they have it in 100 different tanks that never read any ammonia...i guess i could take some water straight from the store and test it to see if my kit would test clean water for 0

I would try that before doing anything to your tank. :)

I had* that test kit. Comapred it to the salifert ammonia, it will always read .25, while salifert reads 0. It will always show a slight green color in it, even on freshly mixed seawater......dont let it worry you, your ammonia is zero.

Ignore that kit, it's a poc. Along with most of their other kits. :)

yea that brand im seeing the just generic brand

HOWEVER..theres a blue pill they make for FW parasites...and that stuff works GREAT..i had ich, and after treating with the classic nox-ich and taking DAYS for it to come off (i had an eel too soo salt was out of the question) i thought everything was fine..til i noticed VELVET. on one treatment, roughly 5 hours later i noticed a large improvement, and within 36 hours it was compeltely gone so..theres some good stuff they do, obviously not SW setups
