Why do you like SPS?

Lighting is the most important thing in the coloring is sps. Then water quality, then flow. You can have nice colors with higher then normal nutrients if your lighting is spot on. I have seen many beautiful reef tanks with average flow and I have seen bad one with high flow.

I would say if you have quality lighting decent level of nutrients and moderate flow you can be successful.

What got me hooked with sps, is the challenge to grow mature colonies with vibrant colors. A lot of people can grow sps, but to get the great colors, it is a real challenge. I see the totm tanks, and say to myself, "You are going to have corals like that someday". Or so I keep telling myself, lol, but very slowly, I am getting there.

After you have been at this a while, it becomes a part of who you are. I can only go a few months without a tank and any tank I do must be SPS.

SPS for 3 reasons in order of importance:

1. The challenge.
2. The sense of accomplishment.
3. The never ending learning curve.
