Why does he hate his greens?

One thing I have learned from watching my lionfish is that he will eat anything that fits in his mouth. However, he won't touch any nori. He will dive bomb into any feeding frenzy with his fins all spread out, but as soon as he realizes it is just nori he gets all depressed and swims away. Whenever I hand feed my fishies he is always the first to reach my hand. Most of the time he will try to eat my figures whole even before I release the food into the water. However, if I am holding nori he won't even come close. As if I am holding some kind of evil unholy food. I am just wondering why is that my lionfish absolutely hates nori?

So if i were to wrap nori around a shrimp he would eat it?

Why are you determined to feed him nori? Lionfish don't need it. They are carnivores...my lions take formula 2 when i feed the tank every now and then, but they dont like it.

Would he take it? Maybe....if he could smell the shrimp? Idk.

As Steph said they are carnivores, not omnivores. Nori isn't exactly the nutrition they need. It's not food to him.

lionfish, triggers, puffers, etc. are all carnivores! trying to feed them nori is like asking a "lion" to not go after deers or rabbits and eat grass and leaves.

Triggers dont fall into that category, they are definite omnivorous. They eat ANYTHING, most of my triggers love nori.

HOWEVER, no, the lion isn't eating the Ulva...it "missed" the feeding stick (and looks pretty p*ssed off about it).
