Why does my PH read 59.9?

Hello,

I just purchased a jr with the normal ph probe from Neptune. I installed it today, but the PH reads 59.9. Thinking that this isn't right, I put the probe into normal water, and the reading jumped to 65.8. What am I doing wrong or did I get a defective probe?

Is it calibrated properly (ie reads 7.0 and 10.0 in the liquids respectfully)?

Do you have the Jr connected to a PC? If so you have a ground loop problem which affects the PH reading. You'll need this http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...Product_Code=NEP-SERIPC&Category_Code=Neptune to solve it if you keep it connected to your PC all the time.

It definitely sounds like a calibration problem. Try calibrating with 7.0 and 10.0 calibration solution. Please note the values displayed at the bottom of the screen during calibration, and if you continue to have problems, please email them to support@neptunesys.com.

Mine read about the same amount after I miscalibrated it. Turns out.. I was supposed to take the cap off the pH probe before I calibrated it.. details details.
