Why Hong Kong Vortech so expensive!

Not sure, our price to our distributors is fixed and have been for a while. I know many shops in Hong Kong want very high margins. I feel many shops have taken advantage of the falling dollar and have been raising their prices instead of lowering them.
It's something that we're looking into heavily.

For this problem, your best option is to approach your local fish store and request a lower price. I believe your store has more than adequate room to provide you a cheaper price.

The main problem is not the retailing store, but the Asia distributors.
And the aftersell service are extremely poor!
There are many funny stories about the Asia distributors.
For example :
If your pump is out of service, the shop will HELP you to ship back to USA and you need to SIT a few month.
And the aftersell service are extremely poor!

Just want to add that the sole agent of EcoTech Marine in Hong Kong is surely not doing their business in a sensible way. They only focus on making short-term profit and they would damage the reputation of EcoTech Marine sooner or later. I bought two MP40W in Mid Jan 2008 and wonder if they would offer free upgrade service to me :-(. I believe they tend to wait ..... until ALL the sold items are no longer under warranty.

And how many night you need in order to fix it?
Or you are meaning that it is not a problem of manufactory & distributor, but the problem of buyer?

When we try to contact the Asia Distributor, he said we should contact The HK Distributor.
But the HK Distributor said they are waiting the reply from the Asia Distributor.
So I want to ask, which party should I contact with?

I bought my first Vortech pump MP40 at sugguested retail price at HKD3380 less discount. Plus I bought the wireless driver upgrade two months ago from the retailer shop like a blaze. The after sale service is excellent.
Then last month I bought another Vortech, the MP40W(wireless driver version) at sugguested retail price HKD4180 less some discount. The Tunze wavebox is selling at HKD4500 plus the magnet and it is definitely more expensive then the Vorthech. I have two Tunze wavebox if somebody would like to buy it.
Now, I am laughing.

I hope we will pay less than those people in the USA and not paying anything for freight and upgrade kit for Vortech. I heard from my friends in Europe, they are paying 425 Euro plus VAT, which is almost USD660=HKD5150. So, our Hong Kong local store is selling HKD4180 plus discount, I think it is cheaper to buy in Hong Kong and I don't have to pay for shipping and I don't have to wait for it too!!!
I have heard lots of people buy from a local parallel importer as group buy from the USA. Please let me know how much and is it cover by local Hong Kong warranty or I will have to give it back to the group buyer to ship it back to USA to service or upgrade. Will Hong Kong local store do it for me. Thx.

I found it interesting why we hobbyist and end user have to blame the distributor for the price and service. Funny stories are funny why the shop have to help us to ship back to USA for service if we buy from local store. I got over the counter one to one replacecment under warranty from the store that I bought my pump. I thought the shop and the distributor is great. Thank you Ecotech.

The wholesale price of the pump in Hong Kong has not gone up since we introduced the MP40w. However, it is possible that pumps are being distributed in Hong Kong outside of the distributorship network that we have setup. If the price in Hong Kong seems higher than what is paid in the US than I am sorry, but we do not control this.
The Gen2 upgrade will be handled by our Asian distributor when he receives his shipment within a month or so. It may take longer for these parts to reach your part of the world and the price may be higher for these parts.

My friend is manage a fish shop and he ask the vortech asia distributors about the wholesaler and dealer price.
He astonished, because the dealer price almost equal the most online shop(Marinedepot...etc.) sell price and that is not include freightage costs.
If the online shop have discount , the sell price wiil be lower the dealer price.
So, you know why it is so expensive in asia now.
Before the vortech provide the dealers lower price to sell lower price , I think I prefer use Tunze to vortech.
