why is DARC so small?

Considering the denver metro area has a larger population than either the north (MASC) or south (SCMAS) club areas why do you think that DARC has so little member involvement in this club?

Is it lack of interest?
Lack of organizers?
Lack of Website?
Something else?

I Enjoy both of the other sites but would like if we had a active site of our own that was a little closer to home for us Denverites.

What do you think? And how can we change it?

We have a good size membership (100+), however most folks are used to posting on the old RMRC site on RC (now MASC). We average a couple of frag swaps each year and about 6 meetings per year. Meeting turnout varies in size from half a dozen to twenty, depending on timing.

I agree it would be nice to have our own website.... we tried that briefly but found that without a dedicated admin, it was a bit challenging.

I'd say the board could use an infusion of new blood. A couple of board members departed, leaving three of us. It would be great if someone wanted to drive some additional opportunity.

We usually meet in the Denver, Aurora, Littleton, Parker areas (southern Denver). Though that doesn't rule out other locations, we tend to stay south.

DARC tends to be far less formal than some of the other clubs.... we work closely with SCMAS on events and our meetings tend to be smaller (save for the swaps). We aren't currently looking to host the next MACNA, but would like to have more folks volunteer to host a get together. We are currently working on a summer BBQ and the Fall frag swap.

If you would like to volunteer to host a meeting, we'd all love to come by. The last one was in February at Freddie40s place, the Frag swap was in March.

We can always improve by more folks getting involved... and offering to help. We also like suggestions.... several folks have asked when the next home meeting is, we just need some volunteers!

Well I'd like to contribute some help. And maybe interested in volunteering my house depending on the number of people (i have a small house). I'll be in touch.

That would be great!! Thanks for thinking about hosting.

Folks can send a PM to one of the Board Members (Freddie40, 68Rustang or me) or you can e-mail the board at d.a.r.c@comcast.net.

I would like to help in any way that I can ...not really sure what I have to offer but if some of the current BOD's have some ideas as to where we need help I would love to contribute.

If anyone here has a website knowledge I would love to learn more and help as much as i can but i could by no means start a site by myself that would be capable of being an active forum.

I'm in the process of moving and with any luck I will have plenty of room to throw some get-togethers every now and then ...although both my tanks combined are less than 100g. it could still be a fun time

I'm not looking to have anything as extravagant as the other clubs just something a little more regular and a good time everynow and then. That isn't motivated by $ or outdoing another club. and most importantly closer to home (denver/aurora)

I frequent both SCMAS and MASC forums quite often and have benefited from advice on both forums ....but chances are I'm not going to drive an hour either way for meetings unless something else motivates me to go out there.

What happens at the meetings? Does everyone sit and talk about the hosts tank?

That and bouncing ideas off eachother. Usually everyone brings a frag and trades with someone else. The best part is seeing how other people run thier systems and the critters they have.

Hmmmm

Hmmmm

Its not that small just no one ever post anything, that my guess is due to the fact RC wants to ban everyone!

Maybe we are smart enough to use the search function for questions. The general population seems to post the same questions over and over again.
