Why is my Anenome hidding??

It has been in the tank for 2 days and was fine and hanging out where I originally placed it, but tonight after the lights went out he moved down under the rocks is this normal or a bad sign?

I have never figured out why they hide. Here is what I have read:

They will hide if they are getting too much light. After a while they are supposed to come out again.

They will hide if they are going to split. Not sure about this one.

They start moving around whenever there is a change. Usually this means a lighting change or change in water flow patterns.

Best way I have found to control this is to place them on a flat rock that is not close to a wall or other rock. They tend not to like crawling along sand or floating.

however, I have seen them do both. I have had BTAs float through the water (scary), and seen then crawl over sand, so nothing is certain.

Good luck, Kevin

Marilyn,
It's getting there still looking pretty empty looking, lol it's not easy filling a 125 with corals. But it is comming along nicley my favorite is that Purpl Rim I got from you it has doubled in size and so has the orange digi you gave me, and as of yesterday they were under a 175 and now are under a 400 so I can't wait to watch them grow!!!!!

Thanks again

The lighting change is definately the problem. Make sure that you are acclimating your corals/anemone to the more intense light by only using the 400watt for a couple hours per day and increasing the photoperiod with the 400w MH by 1-2 hours per week. Don't wanna fry the tank dwellers.

Mine kept moving around for almost a week until it found a spot will enough flow. Good water circulation is critical.

Don't try to move the rocks. You may damage its foot.
