Why is my Bamboo Shark a midget?

As many of you know I hatched a shark from an egg back in September. I am not sure what went wrong but she didn't want to come out so In the end she was cut out and a womping 6 inches and fat, pretty large for a hatchling.
In about one week I got her on food and she actually ate the first attempt. For the next couple monthes she ate mysis once a day and lived happily in caulerpa with a bunch of 4 seahorses.
In November the grape caulerpa decided it wanted to go sexual as a result of being over grown, I had about 15 pounds, it did the typical suck all oxygen and release nitrate and harmful toxins, It was a castastrophe for all, all in the tank were dead and Bambi(the banded bamboo shark) was on her back not moving. When I lifted her out of the water I felt life spring back into her (Probably from the amazing ability bamboos have to shut off parts of their brain in times of struggle and then turn it back on from exposure to oxygen). She then went to the fuge of my 200 fowlr for about 2 weeks until the water in her tank was back up to par and all algae was removed.
In January her tank turned into half sand bed/half a reef dominated by LPS and softies and she got a small stingray friend, since then they both have been living happily.

That is the life story, now the question is, why has she only grown 1.5 inches since birth 6 monthes ago? She right now is only 7.5 inches. I have been recording her growth and she hasn't grown at all since December, could the plants going sexual mess with her growth cycles? I doubt it is living in a 150, I've seen idiots on the web grow a shark huge in a 20. I would say I am a decent owner, her nitrates are always under 10 and she gets fed every other day clams, mysis and krill. A 7.5 inch shark in a 150 is far from unreasonable, so don't bash me, the algae going sexual was also unexpected. How big are bamboos her age supposed to be? Why is she a midget?

Okay, maybe there is some sort of stop they experience. I just remember hearing when I got the egg it was going to be a foot long by now.

I heard the same with mine. It really all depends on how much and how often you feed it. If you fed it every day up to this point, it would have been huge by now, if you didn't feed it as much, it would be smaller.

Not to sound cruel or anything but I wouldn't mind it if my banded bamboo stays this small, then she can stay in the tank.
Here are some pics of her and the tank, they are really bad phone pics.

The shark reef, she is in the middle cave if you look, the ray is in the top right

I have 5yrs experience raising bamboo sharks. The sides of your pup don't look shrunken in, so I think you have nothing to worry about. It looks healthy.

Yeah, thats what I was saying, my shark still looks like a newborn. It's interesting how your shark has sports and stripes.

The spots and stripes have been on her ever since I received her back in October. I think they are very unique and have yet to see another pup like her.

hi guys , i have had many sharks . i have a pup bamboo right now .
i say the slow growth is related to the problem that occured . it probably quit growing through that time. also feeding ... the more you feed the more they grow.

mine is about 2 -3 months old and went from about 2-3 inches to 7 inches currently . chows medium size cuts of shrimp and other foods. you can over feed easliy so becareful . i have killed a shark from this ..... the food got lodged in his intestin .
yours is fat so dont sweat it.
good luck

Just thought I'd let you know that Brownbanded Bamboos are born at around 5-6 inches. They'll never be 2-3 inches.

Hmm ... Well FishyMel - sounds like you may have a slow grower.

From the amount you feeding the shark, and photos - the shark doesn't seem to be growth stunted.

She it's most likely you have healthy normal shark - that's just growing at a slower rate than normal. This is neccessarily a bad thing.

In fact may shark aquarists - which that they could find out how to keep their pups - a pup for a longer period of time.
